I am currently studying Media Production and Digital Arts in Technological University of Dublin. I’ve always been attracted to experimenting with different techniques, and film photography has become one of the most valuable sources of inspiration. Being born in Russia, having lived in Jamaica for a year and about three years in Ireland, I realized the importance of combining images to convey ideas beyond a defined context and delved into the research of visual language.
Project Statement
Control in the modern world has become an integral part of everyday life. The ability to plan and organize has become a responsibility, and a fleeting loss of control can cause stress in society. Even when creating art, we strive to think through the result, to supervise all aspects of it. Photography is no exception here. But in this quest for control, we often miss the beauty of randomness, the fullness of ephemeral flashes. Film is a sensitive mediator, having more substance to capture such ethereal things. These photographs were the result of a mistake; however, they revealed to me the significance of a chance in the overall reflection and showed what unique forms of life it can take without conscious restraint. These marks remind me that sometimes the loss of control adds new facets and has a beneficial effect.
