Project Statement

My photography centres upon capturing objects and ephemera that I come across whilst travelling and working in my home studio. This work involves shooting pictures whist out and about, collecting found objects and materials for the art practice, and assembling these objects and ephemeral items in carefully staged compositions I am chiefly interested in the human element that often brings together fleeting impressions to create strangely familiar encounters that evoke memories of emotions and past life experiences. I use a small range of compact cameras together with light and portable accessories to enable me to work quickly and easily whilst on the move. My studio working includes digital enhancing and retouching to create the effects that help to enhance the subject matter of each image. This way of working allows me to stay in the moment and stay open to to the chance elements which inspire my work.
