Georgiana Medeleanu (b. 2000) is a visual artist and photographer based in Bucharest, Romania. Currently studying photography at the National University of Arts Bucharest (UNArte), her creative journey began under the influence of her father, from whom she inherited a deep reverence for the craft. Working primarily with analog mediums and darkroom processes, Georgiana approaches image-making as a continuous technical and visual experiment, building her practice from the ground up through intentional, hands-on exploration.
Project Statement
My practice begins where language ends. For me, photography is a vital means of articulation when words become insufficient to convey internal states and visual perceptions. I value the unpredictability and tactile depth of traditional photographic processes. Learning every stage of the craft from scratch allows me to treat the darkroom and the camera as spaces of constant experimentation. Through film, I seek to capture nuances of presence, emotion, and visual metaphor—translating what cannot easily be spoken into quiet, evocative imagery.
