Andrea Rigo

Andrea Rigo (1985) is from Turin, Italy. His interest and exploration of human stories started with creative writing and storytelling classes and cinema studies. This led him to work for cinema production companies on movie sets, running a film festival in his hometown, writing for a video blog about movies and spectators’ reactions.
His experience has extended to the theatre sphere through acting, from dubbing and voice-over work to readings at public and private events, as well as co-running an acting course and managing the social media for a theatre festival. Also, he’s been working for years as a tour guide in a sport-dedicated museum and stadium.
Photography is his new challenge, his new eye to approach and discover the stories the world has to reveal.

Photographer’s statement:

Black and white is a specific way of looking, of selecting. Even through the camera’s viewfinder, before the shutter is even released, a reality emerges that is different from the one we see before us in life, in color: a reality where strong light blades intrude and settle in, whether precise or soft, like a cutout against the deep darkness of black.
A dually-composed jigsaw puzzle where human figures, animals and objects seem to traverse this reality in search of their own space and position, unconsciously exploring the contrasts between light and shadow.
It is a world that defies over-explanation, as distinct as it is mysterious, like the words of a poem that hints at a truth, but it’s not quite clear how.
