Project Statement
Where Colors Meet explores the moment when colour becomes most vivid through contrast. I am drawn to encounters between colours — warm against cool, saturated against muted, natural against artificial — and to the way light can heighten these oppositions.
These photographs begin with moments of visual surprise found in ordinary surroundings. Through framing, I isolate the places where colours meet, allowing their contrasts to reshape the scene. Architecture, landscape and everyday objects become secondary to the relationships between colour, light and form.
What interests me is that brief shift in perception when contrast makes a colour stand out as a presence of its own.
